In collaboration with Kenz and Mom project, and in partnership with Syria TV, Basamat for Development (BFD) has organized “Kenz and Mom Forum in Istanbul” in the participation of approximately 300 Syrian women living in Turkey, with the aim to tackle obstacles facing mothers through the process of raising their children in diaspora. The needs behind the forum are represented by disparities between the Syrian and Turkish cultures and by harsh conditions they witnessed along their displacement from their home country. The forum took place on Saturday, 24 November, along 5 hours and included 4 major topics which are:
1- Healthy Nutrition Secrets: presented by nutrition specialist Rula Alloush.
2- Arabic Motherhood in Turkey: presented by educational planning and management specialists Batoul Hodayfa.
3- Cheerfulness of the worldly life: presented by Kenz and Mom project’s founder Mrs Ghazal Baghdadi, a journalist specialized in children issues and Montessori curricula.
4- The last topic involved an open discussion between the attendants and speakers.
The forum also offered a safe space and babysitting services for children under the age of 2 under the supervision of the highly-qualified voluntary team Aman, in order to facilitate women participation in the forum without any restrictions.
We, at BFD, believe in the importance of supporting the projects that are based on reliable academic references aiming to provide a correct and healthy approach to raising children. We also believe in the importance of connecting these projects to their audiences, hoping that the forum has achieved its objectives and delivered the desired benefits to participants.
